Let’s make memories

The title of this post came from my bathroom mirror. More precisely, it came from my wife, who wrote this statement in red dry erase marker on our bathroom mirror. It’s hard to make out the words at first, as they blend into the other images reflected on the glass. Looking closely though, they can be found. I find myself searching for them every time I get in front of that mirror.

And this is precisely the point. Making memories requires us to look closely at our relationships, our priorities, our interests, and our dreams, and find those worth separating from the dailiness of life. Which of these we will pursue is a choice we make every day.

Take some time to sort out the things you are doing, how much time you spend doing them, and who else you are doing them with (or not doing them with). Which relationships do you treasure most? Which dreams will you regret if you never pursue them? Which hobby or activity do you enjoy but haven’t given yourself permission to make time for? Choose the things you want to last, and make them into memories.

  1. What a great encouragement Aaron! A recent struggle is realising that it is better for me to pursue a few relationships deeply, instead of trying to keep up with everyone, a little bit here and there, only maintaining shallow friendships.
I love writing and telling people’s stories, so blogging is taking a bigger part of my off-time.
Which hobby or activity are you looking towards more lately?

    • Hi Michael,

Thanks for reading my post! I am looking towards a couple more things here lately: giving more time and attention to my girls (all 3 of them), reading books, and gaining knowledge in the realm of career advice & entrepreneurship. These are the things that give me much joy.

      Take care,
      Aaron
