My name is Aaron Harris. I am a husband, a career coach, a writer for Examiner.com, and a big fan of those who pursue their passions and live them out. It is my desire to be a guide for you in discovering, or rediscovering, your dreams and passions, and to identify work and career choices that will enable you to live them out. The end result is to help you experience a fulfilling and purposeful life.
At the age of 25, with two college degrees, $38,000 in student loans, and a job with a FORTUNE “100 Best Companies to Work For” ranking, I went where my degrees and academic training told me I should go. It gave me a certain amount of pride to tell people where I was working. It also paid me very well. But from almost the first week I was there, I sensed something was not right. I grew more agitated and discouraged with each passing week. Just shy of two years with the company, I left the Midwest and went to the Big Apple – New York City!
I got a job with a Wall Street firm, hoping I could find a better work environment, learn about a new industry, and thereby feel better about my career. I loved the buzz and energy of the big city, but my career only got more sour. After three and a half years of this, I had had enough and hired a career coach. I felt totally lost and clueless, and I needed someone to help me and guide me. This was the best decision I ever made in my career.
At first I felt embarrassed to tell others I was working with a career coach. Was there something wrong with me? Was I the only one who struggled with understanding my calling in life? I was floating by, without any direction or purpose. Through an examination of my personality, strengths, and marketable skills, and with a lot of prayer and support from family and friends, I discovered my God-given passion and calling – to do the same for others! My desire is to help you discover, or rediscover, your dreams and passions, identify your calling, and put together a realistic plan for living them out.
I currently reside in Columbia, Missouri, with the love of my life, my wife Maureen. My interests include movies, art, soccer, just about any kind of food, and Sunday afternoon naps.
